The word Reiki(pronounced Ray Key) derives from two Japanese words that mean literally: universal life force energy. The source of all universal life force energy is the source of all life and is older than all creation. Just as there are many names for Ki, there are just as many names for this source: Creator, God, the Universe, the First Source, Goddess, the Higher Self, Great Mystery, Higher Power, etc.
As everything is energy and everything may be corrected with energy. Quantum physics says that as you go deeper and deeper into the workings of the atom, you see that there is nothing there – just energy waves. It says an atom is actually an invisible force field, a kind of miniature tornado, which emits waves of electrical energy.
According to Quantum Physics, we live in a world of energy. The field of quantum physics has recently discovered that all matter is composed of energy. The body is composed entirely of energy.
If you continue down beyond the atomic level, you will eventually find what are known as “super strings” which are pure vibrations of energy. The frequency with which these strings are vibrating determine what kind of matter they form. These sub-subatomic particles then interact with each other in ways that eventually form atoms. These atoms form molecules, which form cells. And our cells ultimately form us.
The resonance of the energy of which we are made determines a lot about our bodies. The good news is, much like a stringed instrument, you can tune these strings to provide resonance and frequencies that are more beneficial to our being. But, like a poorly tuned instrument, if you don’t pay attention to your energy, you will find that things get out of harmony and lead to an unpleasant experience.
Our body is comprised of energy centers / chakras vibrating at different frequencies/speeds. Our physical body, our thoughts, emotions, and our spiritual center, all vibrate at a particular frequency or speed. These varying vibrations or pulsations create a field around them which are often referred to as our aura or energy field. The aura is an information center and a highly perceptual system that transmits and receives messages from the outer world to inner world and vice versa. Each energy layer appears different and has its own individual function. Yet, they continuously interpenetrate each other as well as the physical body. These fields can be felt through touch. It is what we perceive or sense when we scan with our hands.
One of the basic teachings of healing with Reiki is that we are more than our physical bodies. We also have an energy body made up of our aura (energy fields), the chakras (energy centers) and the meridians (energy pathways.) Like our physical body that takes in food to nourish it and give it energy, our energy body does the same. The energy fields take energy in, the chakras break it down, and the meridians distribute it throughout the body.
If there is an imbalance in the human energy system for a long time, all the energetic imbalances may become physical problems or illnesses. When the energy system is aligned /corrected and eliminated/removed energetically, the physical state is balanced as well. Human energy systems and their energy problems can also be corrected through healing energy techniques. One such healing modality is Reiki(Universal Energy) Healing. The human energy may be cleansed, balanced, normalized and healed. Healing on the energetic level brings physical health.
